Ghilli

Since I am back in Bangalore , I have started the pilgrimage process (my weekend trips to Chennai ) again . I was looking forward to this trip because I was supposed to play a tennis ball cricket match on sunday . The venue was the ground near CTS office , Karapaakam . None of us work there .But then why did we decide in that place ? bcos athu namma area machi ...ama , we are from Old mahabalipuram road area .

It has been long since I had played cricket .The last time I played was on 22nd May ,2002.Why is that I remember this day so well ? Is it because myself and the group stopped playing cricket ?Naa...this date is well documented in the history of old mahabs road because that was the day I picked up fight with the local panchayat ward member (yeah , old mahabs is in outskirts of Chennai and hence it comes panchayat board ) . Trust me , we celebrated that day because no one thought that a college going jovial guy could stand up against the local politician and fight against injustice .Of course , I didnt fight because of the bad roads or poor street lights or the water scarce problem but I fought because his team cheated while playing cricket with us.You should know that cricket is a religion here and it is our national sport (you might have been taught in school that hockey is our national game ....but I am talking in terms of popularity ) .So my fight was well worth the trouble.Seri ..rombha scene vidurain oh ? "ghilli " padam patha effect illai ?

Okie , coming back to sunday's match .We fielded first .All I did was I stood in slips and took one lotha(easy) catch .Apporam when we batted , I got my ghaazhi (batting ) .First ball ...outside off...tried to cut it ...gloved it ..caught by keeper .Semma insult machi . eppo antha ghilli effect neutralize achaa ? And to make ghilli effect -ve , my close buddies , Awakening Coma and Senthil were to irriate me . Senthil teased me so much that I am trying to avoid even chatting with him :-( .But wait guys , I will be in Chennai again in 2 weeks time ..appo dekho ghilli ishtyle batting.

Anbe Sivam

"Anbe Sivam" was telecasted last week on a tamil channel and if you dont know tamil then you have missed a really good movie .This movie , one of the better Indian movies , touches the basics of politics without creating any controversies . For example : Nasser represents capitalist .He is a businessman with darker shades of character ...and in short a hardcore capitalist with no concern for his workers or society.Madhavan represents the democratic society ,or rather the people in democratic society .He complains about everything and is more concerned about himself .And kamal (namma thalai) is a communist . The movie revolves around these people and surprisingly the message(as per my interpretation) in the movie is not what kind of "governance" is good or more suitable . The message is - we all talk about corruptions and other things but we fail to see the good things. eg: Kamal says that Madhavan is god because Madahavan tries to save a kid by giving his blood .And similarly , in the last scene , when a guy comes to kill kamal but instead he ends up asking for forgivesness from kamal and because of this Kamal refers to him as god. Since Kamal's character is a believer in communism , the word "god" refers more to good things and not "god" as such . We fail to appreciate the auto-driver who returns things that you forgot in the auto , or the security guy who wishes you every morning or the next door kid who makes you smile . Why do we see only the bad things and complain and why dont we enjoy/appreciate the good things ?

Thinking more on these lines - though corruptions exist in our society , there is a system which works perfectly well . We keep talking about all the corruptions and politicians but how many actually try to get into politics and make things better for others . Who wants to clean the sewage ah ? Of course you might say the least I can do is morally support the right causes .Thats exactly what my great-grandfather and grandfather did , my father is still doing it and I will definitely continue with the tradition. But you think it really makes any difference? Naaaa .

I am not a perfect person and I dont expect the society to be perfect . There is a dialogue in Ayuhta ezhuthu (tamil version of Yuva ) which roughly translated means - "I will take care of myself...and the world will take care of itself" . How selfish ....but very true.

Equality

It might be the one of the most popular pseudo truth statements . I say it is pseudo truth because people believe that it is the truth and they think they are following the statement .But in reality , it is never followed ...it only exists in statement ..and never in real life . If you havent guessed it , I am talking about this statement - Men and women are equal.I fail to understand how one gender is more equal than the other .Why is it that certain previlages are held only by one and not the other .

I am sure you guys could seen sexual discrimination in office, school and may be also in home. Isnt it irritating ? And where does this so called equality exist ? Is girls have short boyish hairdo or wearing pants called equality ? no ..lethu ..illai ..nahi... Why is that guys cant have long hair ? Why the heck ppl in office stare when a guy has long hair ? why is this a previlage only for girls ? Why ..yen ..yemmi..kyon..yekka ? Am gonna fight this injustice ....by not cutting my 6 months long hair ..

back to the roots

Packing is an art ..especially if you are carrying back too many things .And I need to master this art .I managed to survive this and also the 14 hours flight to Hong kong and 8 hours waiting time in Singapore airport. The 14 hours trip wasnt fun but the 8 hours stay in singapore was .I got to make friends with 2 guys ; 1 was going to Australia to do his masters and the other was returning back to India . Then I took a 2 hours guided tour of Singapore . Initially I thought of meeting the fellow bloggers but realise that since it was unplanned , I could end up screwing up too many things .The tour was real fun especially because I got to talk to some polish travellers who couldnt understand what I was saying nor could I understand what they were saying .I also managed to talk to the cute lady in the information kiosk in airport . We talked for 40 odd minutes about nothing in particular and bid her bye with a heavy heart ..but I was more excited to get back home. I guess everyone in the plane was equally excited because after the plane landed in Chennai and while it was being taxied to the terminal , most of the passengers stood and started walking towards the door . The air hostesses were terrified and tried to make these people sit .This only made things more chaos and the plane looked like a local Chennai public bus :-) .

I rushed back home and played with my niece and hogged idlies and curd rice. trust me , even curd rice tasted heavenly .I had planned to take a vacation and so spend the first day In chennai lazying around . I met few friends .I enjoyed the ride in my bike and also the informal bike race between the traffic signals . have you guys tried this ? racing with a unknown bike rider to the next traffic light ? And when your destination is no longer in the same route , you acknowledge each other's sportmanship with a wave ? man..it feels good to do all these things and ending up parking your bike right under the "no parking" board :-) .

All this came to an end when I was watching one of those (hilarious ) dumb phone and request a song program on TV .I got a call from office and was asked to move my a$$ to bengalooru .I rushed back ..and here I am trying to meet new impossible deadlines :-) .

flying back home

In the last 3 months , I didnt realize the time fly as I was busy having fun. This trip to USA has been far more fun than my previous trip because last time when I had come, all my friends were studying and we couldnt meet up.But this time all them are working and it has been rocking experience to catch up with them .And also what made my trip here more memorable was that I got to meet some bloggers and talk to others . (Its sad that I didnt get to meet all ).I even got to stay at Venkitu Narayan's place....... All the unknown and unseen faces whose blogs I read and who read my blogs , I never thought that I will meet these people or talk to them .Every blogger I have met has nice things to talk about others and every blogger has helped the others in their own ways.....Just think.... u dont know this person , never seen him or talked to him and that person comes to help you , makes you feel at home .Wont you feel happy ?especially when you are in a foreign land ?

This trip has made me more eager to travel to newer places and see places . People , when you are here make sure you make a few road trips here . Trust me , it will definitely be a memorable trip.Try your hands in trekking , hiking , skiing and what not . Also make sure you meet people from parts of the world and get to know their culture ....When you look into the world from other people's views , the world looks a whole lot different....Cauvery water is not the only issue in the whole world and bhangra is not the only dance .Here you get to do a whole lot of things that you may not get to do at home .Make use of it :-) ...And you must go to Pakistani restaurants . The food items in menu cards are the same as the ones you seen in Indian restaurants .You will get same tandoori items , tikka masala and biryani .But the food is heavenly . As for the chinese restaurants , you wont get the indianised chinese foods. You will get the Americanised chinese food ...wel..I prefer the Indian version :-) .

After having fun ..get back home ..remember there is no place like home ....That is exactly what I am doing .I will be back in India on monday .Will catch up with you guys from there .

PS - As for the people who were asking me for treat on the occasion of my ficitious b'day , I have decided to treat them .yeah ...I will treat you guys ..I will give you HALWA ..specially kindified with loads of curses !!!

Girls - at home and in abroad

NOTE : Its not my birthday ...there has been a conspiracy against me by the opposition parties ..these people are spreading rumours about my birthday and are demanding treat ....without giving me gifts ...please help me fight this unfair war ..dont support them.

How many times have you heard that it is tough to understand a girl ? The girls have got a very complicated thinking process and we guys dont understand whats in a girl's mind. I mean the guys are not smart enough to comprehend a girl's answer because a "no" means "yes" and a "yes" means "no" and there are times when "yes" means "yes" and "no" means "no".The complexity doesnt end here .A guy has to decipher that when a girl refuses to help him out with chemistry assignment and also gives him a few cold stares then she means that she wants flowers . Why dont the girls just get the flowers themselves ? I mean how many times has a guy tried to hint a girl that he wants a beer ? If he wants beer then he gets it by himself.

Now when I wish I could solve the puzzles the girls burden us with everyday , I hear some guys telling that girls change when they come abroad .When they say girls have changed do they mean the girls are more independent or less dependent on guys/family members ? If yes , then I guess its just that anyone who comes abroad has to be on his/her own .I know guys back home who cant go out on their own but when they go abroad they change. So being independent is not a girl or a guy thing ...its just a necessity when you are abroad.

Now if the "girls change when in abroad" means that they know less about Indian culture or they dont follow traditional stuffs , then again its a wrong statement .I have come across abroad settled families who know more about Indian culture and who follow it more than most of the Indians back home. Some of these people are more Indians(as in patriotism) than rest of us back home.

If you talk about "kunija thalai nimuratha ponnu" ( women who dont make eye contacts with others ) and the ones who only look at the floor when talking are not to be found in abroad , then let me tell you it has nothing to do with culture but with road.In India , all roads have lots of holes and uncovered manholes .So a girl walking on road looks down to avoid them . We are mistaking it for some kinda culture .You may ask then guys walking on those roads should also look down .Come on guys , you have to 2 options #) look out for the uncovered manholes #)look a the beautiful girl .Obviously every guy will choose to look at the girl.Only if guys were smarter , they had avoid the uncovered manholes ....and the girls .And of course , the roads abroad are safer.

So people please enlighten me what you mean by saying that girls change when they come abroad .I find them as mysterious as ever ... exactly the ones who claim to be an animal lover and against cruelty to animals ..but when you ask them for their favourite food , then the answer is chicken biryani !!!
