So one guy said that he was ready to bet 500 bucks .The other guy said he is not willing to bet and now he seemed not so sure of his views .So the guy who was ready to bet said - " Dude..you seemed so sure of yourself and now you are not ready to bet .How come you don't trust yourself ? "

The tone with which the question "how come you don't trust yourself" was asked , made an impact .What do you call someone who is always sure of himself/herself ? you call him/her confident , over confident , foolish or ignorant ?Is being unsure of oneself is wrong ?Can you really trust yourself ? But then , if you don't trust yourself , then whom else will you trust ?

A)I can trust myself ...... If someone asks me a question , I will answer whatever I know or tell the person that I dont know .Whether I know the answer or not is not important .But I am sure that
#)I know
#)I dont know
#)I know some what
#)I am making guesses .
So it means I can trust myself .

B)No..I can't trust myself .........None of us are saints and we definitely lie to others or atleast we are guilty of not telling the complete truth . Its just not this , we also lie to ourselves . For eg: We may like to believe that we are good in something even though we know that we are not that good .This is required to push ourselves to perform better . ...And also the opinion we had yesterday may not hold good today .We do keep changing our minds ..dont we ?So the question is , if I can lie to myself , then whats the point in trusting myself ?

So do you trust yourself or not ?

Tagged

Tagging is more or less like assignments given during school/college days.So let me post this tag (by silverine ) in similar style .Caution - Working on weekends can have serious effects on a person's ability to think what he is writing .so please be fore warned ....

Aim :
=========
To create a work of fiction or fact of around 100-200 ( 300-400 will do too)words using these words: I, me, blowjob, grapes, random, power, loneliness, water, robot, and blue.

Steps to be followed :
=================
1)Intialize varibles ,one varible (keywordVarible) containing the keywords like I , Me ..etc and other(fillerVariable) containing filler words like is,the, being etc .
2)Write a Procedure Pick_Random_Value to pick random values from KeywordVariable and from fillerVariable .
3)Form statements from the values returned from the above Procedure.
4)Print the above sentence n the screen.

Flowchart:
===================
I have given this work to a first year junior . I was looking forward to this trip because I was supposed to play a tennis ball cricket match on sunday . The venue was the ground near CTS office , Karapaakam . None of us work there .But then why did we decide in that place ? bcos athu namma area machi ...ama , we are from Old mahabalipuram road area .

It has been long since I had played cricket .The last time I played was on 22nd May ,2002.Why is that I remember this day so well ? Is it because myself and the group stopped playing cricket ?Naa...this date is well documented in the history of old mahabs road because that was the day I picked up fight with the local panchayat ward member (yeah , old mahabs is in outskirts of Chennai and hence it comes panchayat board ) . Trust me , we celebrated that day because no one thought that a college going jovial guy could stand up against the local politician and fight against injustice .Of course , I didnt fight because of the bad roads or poor street lights or the water scarce problem but I fought because his team cheated while playing cricket with us.You should know that cricket is a religion here and it is our national sport (you might have been taught in school that hockey is our national game ....but I am talking in terms of popularity ) .So my fight was well worth the trouble.Seri ..rombha scene vidurain oh ? "ghilli " padam patha effect illai ?

Okie , coming back to sunday's match .We fielded first .All I did was I stood in slips and took one lotha(easy) catch .Apporam when we batted , I got my ghaazhi (batting ) .First ball ...outside off...tried to cut it ...gloved it ..caught by keeper .Semma insult machi . eppo antha ghilli effect neutralize achaa ? And to make ghilli effect -ve , my close buddies , Awakening Coma and Senthil were to irriate me . Senthil teased me so much that I am trying to avoid even chatting with him :-( .But wait guys , I will be in Chennai again in 2 weeks time ..appo dekho ghilli ishtyle batting.

Anbe Sivam

"Anbe Sivam" was telecasted last week on a tamil channel and if you dont know tamil then you have missed a really good movie .This movie , one of the better Indian movies , touches the basics of politics without creating any controversies . For example : Nasser represents capitalist .He is a businessman with darker shades of character ...and in short a hardcore capitalist with no concern for his workers or society.Madhavan represents the democratic society ,or rather the people in democratic society .He complains about everything and is more concerned about himself .And kamal (namma thalai) is a communist . The movie revolves around these people and surprisingly the message(as per my interpretation) in the movie is not what kind of "governance" is good or more suitable . The message is - we all talk about corruptions and other things but we fail to see the good things. eg: Kamal says that Madhavan is god because Madahavan tries to save a kid by giving his blood .And similarly , in the last scene , when a guy comes to kill kamal but instead he ends up asking for forgivesness from kamal and because of this Kamal refers to him as god. Since Kamal's character is a believer in communism , the word "god" refers more to good things and not "god" as such . We fail to appreciate the auto-driver who returns things that you forgot in the auto , or the security guy who wishes you every morning or the next door kid who makes you smile . Why do we see only the bad things and complain and why dont we enjoy/appreciate the good things ?

Thinking more on these lines - though corruptions exist in our society , there is a system which works perfectly well . We keep talking about all the corruptions and politicians but how many actually try to get into politics and make things better for others . Who wants to clean the sewage ah ? Of course you might say the least I can do is morally support the right causes .Thats exactly what my great-grandfather and grandfather did , my father is still doing it and I will definitely continue with the tradition. But you think it really makes any difference? Naaaa .

I am not a perfect person and I dont expect the society to be perfect . There is a dialogue in Ayuhta ezhuthu (tamil version of Yuva ) which roughly translated means - "I will take care of myself...and the world will take care of itself" . How selfish ....but very true.

Equality

It might be the one of the most popular pseudo truth statements . I say it is pseudo truth because people believe that it is the truth and they think they are following the statement .But in reality , it is never followed ...it only exists in statement ..and never in real life . If you havent guessed it , I am talking about this statement - Men and women are equal.I fail to understand how one gender is more equal than the other .Why is it that certain previlages are held only by one and not the other .

I am sure you guys could seen sexual discrimination in office, school and may be also in home. Isnt it irritating ? And where does this so called equality exist ? Is girls have short boyish hairdo or wearing pants called equality ? no ..lethu ..illai ..nahi... Why is that guys cant have long hair ? Why the heck ppl in office stare when a guy has long hair ? why is this a previlage only for girls ? Why ..yen ..yemmi..kyon..yekka ? Am gonna fight this injustice ....by not cutting my 6 months long hair ..

back to the roots

Packing is an art ..especially if you are carrying back too many things .And I need to master this art .I managed to survive this and also the 14 hours flight to Hong kong and 8 hours waiting time in Singapore airport. The 14 hours trip wasnt fun but the 8 hours stay in singapore was .I got to make friends with 2 guys ; 1 was going to Australia to do his masters and the other was returning back to India . Then I took a 2 hours guided tour of Singapore . Initially I thought of meeting the fellow bloggers but realise that since it was unplanned , I could end up screwing up too many things .The tour was real fun especially because I got to talk to some polish travellers who couldnt understand what I was saying nor could I understand what they were saying .I also managed to talk to the cute lady in the information kiosk in airport . We talked for 40 odd minutes about nothing in particular and bid her bye with a heavy heart ..but I was more excited to get back home. I guess everyone in the plane was equally excited because after the plane landed in Chennai and while it was being taxied to the terminal , most of the passengers stood and started walking towards the door . The air hostesses were terrified and tried to make these people sit .This only made things more chaos and the plane looked like a local Chennai public bus :-) .

I rushed back home and played with my niece and hogged idlies and curd rice. trust me , even curd rice tasted heavenly .I had planned to take a vacation and so spend the first day In chennai lazying around . I met few friends .I enjoyed the ride in my bike and also the informal bike race between the traffic signals . have you guys tried this ? racing with a unknown bike rider to the next traffic light ? And when your destination is no longer in the same route , you acknowledge each other's sportmanship with a wave ? man..it feels good to do all these things and ending up parking your bike right under the "no parking" board :-) .

All this came to an end when I was watching one of those (hilarious ) dumb phone and request a song program on TV .I got a call from office and was asked to move my a$$ to bengalooru .I rushed back ..and here I am trying to meet new impossible deadlines :-) .

flying back home

In the last 3 months , I didnt realize the time fly as I was busy having fun. This trip to USA has been far more fun than my previous trip because last time when I had come, all my friends were studying and we couldnt meet up.But this time all them are working and it has been rocking experience to catch up with them .And also what made my trip here more memorable was that I got to meet some bloggers and talk to others . (Its sad that I didnt get to meet all ).I even got to stay at Venkitu Narayan's place....... All the unknown and unseen faces whose blogs I read and who read my blogs , I never thought that I will meet these people or talk to them .Every blogger I have met has nice things to talk about others and every blogger has helped the others in their own ways.....Just think.... u dont know this person , never seen him or talked to him and that person comes to help you , makes you feel at home .Wont you feel happy ?especially when you are in a foreign land ?

This trip has made me more eager to travel to newer places and see places . People , when you are here make sure you make a few road trips here . Trust me , it will definitely be a memorable trip.Try your hands in trekking , hiking , skiing and what not . Also make sure you meet people from parts of the world and get to know their culture ....When you look into the world from other people's views , the world looks a whole lot different....Cauvery water is not the only issue in the whole world and bhangra is not the only dance .Here you get to do a whole lot of things that you may not get to do at home .Make use of it :-) ...And you must go to Pakistani restaurants . The food items in menu cards are the same as the ones you seen in Indian restaurants .You will get same tandoori items , tikka masala and biryani .But the food is heavenly . As for the chinese restaurants , you wont get the indianised chinese foods. You will get the Americanised chinese food ...wel..I prefer the Indian version :-) .

After having fun ..get back home ..remember there is no place like home ....That is exactly what I am doing .I will be back in India on monday .Will catch up with you guys from there .

PS - As for the people who were asking me for treat on the occasion of my ficitious b'day , I have decided to treat them .yeah ...I will treat you guys ..I will give you HALWA ..specially kindified with loads of curses !!!

Girls - at home and in abroad

NOTE : Its not my birthday ...there has been a conspiracy against me by the opposition parties ..these people are spreading rumours about my birthday and are demanding treat ....without giving me gifts ...please help me fight this unfair war ..dont support them.

How many times have you heard that it is tough to understand a girl ? The girls have got a very complicated thinking process and we guys dont understand whats in a girl's mind. I mean the guys are not smart enough to comprehend a girl's answer because a "no" means "yes" and a "yes" means "no" and there are times when "yes" means "yes" and "no" means "no".The complexity doesnt end here .A guy has to decipher that when a girl refuses to help him out with chemistry assignment and also gives him a few cold stares then she means that she wants flowers . Why dont the girls just get the flowers themselves ? I mean how many times has a guy tried to hint a girl that he wants a beer ? If he wants beer then he gets it by himself.

Now when I wish I could solve the puzzles the girls burden us with everyday , I hear some guys telling that girls change when they come abroad .When they say girls have changed do they mean the girls are more independent or less dependent on guys/family members ? If yes , then I guess its just that anyone who comes abroad has to be on his/her own .I know guys back home who cant go out on their own but when they go abroad they change. So being independent is not a girl or a guy thing ...its just a necessity when you are abroad.

Now if the "girls change when in abroad" means that they know less about Indian culture or they dont follow traditional stuffs , then again its a wrong statement .I have come across abroad settled families who know more about Indian culture and who follow it more than most of the Indians back home. Some of these people are more Indians(as in patriotism) than rest of us back home.

If you talk about "kunija thalai nimuratha ponnu" ( women who dont make eye contacts with others ) and the ones who only look at the floor when talking are not to be found in abroad , then let me tell you it has nothing to do with culture but with road.In India , all roads have lots of holes and uncovered manholes .So a girl walking on road looks down to avoid them . We are mistaking it for some kinda culture .You may ask then guys walking on those roads should also look down .Come on guys , you have to 2 options #) look out for the uncovered manholes #)look a the beautiful girl .Obviously every guy will choose to look at the girl.Only if guys were smarter , they had avoid the uncovered manholes ....and the girls .And of course , the roads abroad are safer.

So people please enlighten me what you mean by saying that girls change when they come abroad .I find them as mysterious as ever ... exactly the ones who claim to be an animal lover and against cruelty to animals ..but when you ask them for their favourite food , then the answer is chicken biryani !!!

Perfect lover .....damn

Too many pending tags to post ....I have few pending tags by Jaggu Chetah (which will have to wait ) but I decided to post on the tag by trinity angel because it is about the perfect lover . ..now isnt that something to think about ?

All these years I have not thought about the 8 different points about the perfect lover (dai , pervert dogs ...dont imagine any crap now ) .What I am trying to say is that every girl is beautiful in her own ways (I can hear claps by the same group which clapped in silverine's post ;)) . And I dont want to show any discrimination .So I try to give equal chances to all girls and , of course , I am so generous that I allocate room in my heart for every girl .This means every girl is special to me ,which, in turn means that I havent thought about what I am looking for in my perfect lover.Enough of the $h!t ...lets get on with the game...

Rules of the game are...

1. The tagged victim has to come up with 8 different points of their perfect lover.
2. Need to mention the sex of the target.
3. Tag 8 victims to join this game & leave a comment on their comments saying they’ve been tagged.
4. If tagged the 2nd time, there’s no need to post again.

Sex of the target :
gujilies a.k.a figures a.ka.girls

Since words fail me when I try to describe my perfect lover , I will use names of personalities, characters and other attributes ( I meant this in a software engineer's language ) to describe her.

Remember Bhagyashree in Main Pyar Kiya and Juhi Chawla in Qayamat Se Qayamat tak ? These movies must have been released when I was in kindergarden or in 1st std.I think I was in love with these 2 women .Since first love is something we cant forget , I could prefer my girl to be in line with these ladies .(Note - I didnt like Juhi in any other movie .From now on if mention a movie name , it means I liked the actress in that movie and as that particular character only and her presence in any other movie as any other character has no impact on me ) .

I have been in love with Sonali Bendre many a times .So shades of Sonali Bendre needed in my perfect lover :D.

Amala in Agninatchatiram (Tamil ) and Siva (Telugu ) .I fell for her when she said her name as oru li , rendu li ..anju li ( in agninatchatiram ) .I envy Nagarjun ..because he got to marry her ...the only reason being I was a very small kid then :(( .

Amrita Rao trys to tell her dad about her boy friend Sagar but she ends up asking if her dad needs more sugar in coffee. This Bru ad left me dreaming about her .So Amrita rao can become my girlfriend if she tries a bit hard ;)

Genelia D'Souza in boys ( Tamil ) ..Now ..Witchyangel , tamilponnu and all others ..keep away from commenting anything nasty about her ...Shes super cute ponnu :) .

Asin - Isnt she a goddess ? Ghazini (Tamil) is the movie that had guys going crazy about her .I am sure some guy is going to build a temple for her ....Isnt this the trend in Tamil Nadu now ?

The above 6 points can be overlooked if her dad is stinking rich .I guess no more explaination is needed .

If she has a beautiful younger unmarried sister , then she has more chances of being my girl (I am referring to the elder one here ) :).

So the 8 points are done ...But wait guys ..let me tell you something - As I said earlier every girl is beautiful in her own ways and no girl is perfect ( I am not saying guys are perfect either ) .All that it matters is how perfect you are as couples and not how perfect you are as individuals (Silverine ..u still clapping ?? ) .You guys got the message ?

As the universal truth aplies here too , the advice (as in the above paragraph ) is meant only for others and not me .So if you find any girl who matches the above 8 conditions please let me know :)

I am not tagging anyone here......

Biggest joke

I love playing practical jokes and I have also been on the receiving end .I understand that not everyone can stand practical jokes .Its perfectly fine .But can you imagine a joke which is big enough to get national level attention .. ? na..on second thoughts , the whole world may be laughing at this joke.

And I was thinking that only I got junk people as my friends who enjoy pulling off such jokes .Oh my god ...the Americans have such a good sense of humour .You got to appreciate it .I was rolling on the ground when I saw this . Like all engineers , he is a pretty curious chap and so was meddling with some stuffs near the door . The problem is , he is a software guy .And like rest of us , he is equally good at messing up with things. He realised this when small lights , kept on the walls at regular interval , started flashing .He could also hear sounds (athu thaan ba ..namma ooru le sangu vuthura mathiri oru effect ..ethule savvu melam effect also imagine plz).It sounded like music played in funerals. The fire engine arrived and they evacuatated everyone in office and in few minutes time they came out and said that someone had pushed the fire alarm .It was a false call and they realised that someone had did something to the fire alarm. The hero of the story realized his mistake and apologised .He was given a small lecture and was left nursing the embarrasment. That was the fortunate part .Now , we got such a good chance to have fun and you think we will leave it here ..NEVER .....

We told him how people are punished for doing such things. We told him that he may have to pay a hefty fine and also since his actions were recorded through the video camera installed near the door, he may end up in jail . The color of his face drained and he was totally shaken .He even thought of returning back to India in the very next flight .And all this time , we were laughing at him (of course behind him. ) .Imagine the scene - 'two of us talking to him and telling him about the consequences while the others are laughing behind the scene. After sometime ,the first two are replaced by some other two and the first two join others to laugh' .

We werent satisfied with the fun and we wanted more ,so some more processing was done in the background and he ended up getting a call from the Admin dept. He was just told what not to do with fire alarms and when he can touch them . But of course, there were some extra fittings in the lecture which shook this guy totally . And when he came out after the meeting was over , his expressions were so damn funny .Man...I havent laughed so hard in recent times.

We did feel sorry for him and later consoled him and told him the truth .That guy doesnt believe us and he still is scared !!!

Britishers divided us ?

The common belief is that the "Divide and rule" policy of England has divided us into 3 nations (India , Pakistan and Bangladesh ) .And not only that , this policy has its effect even in today's society (...of course it is still used by politicians).

All this is fine .But I had like to question the fact that England divided us into 3 different countries. Dont you think they actually united us NOT divided us.Let me explain - India was ruled by many small kings and no kingdom was big enough compared to the present India .Lets not go to the successful days of mughals or other empires .Lets talk about 18th century on (I know that East India company was established in 1600) . These small kingdoms could have been fighting with each other and do you think these kingdoms could have united to form one big nation? Not just these small kingdoms divided us , there were other factors too .For eg: Language , religion , caste ..these could have further divided India into smaller nations . The only point that united us was that we were under British rule and the Indenpendence movement got us together . It brought us "one nation" feeling..so much so that Britishers had to use "divide and rule" policy .
So I would say that the present 3 nations in the Indian sub-continent are actually collection of smaller kingdoms rather than division of one big nation.Whats ur say ?

Heights of creativity

Well...my cooking experiment is still on. The only thing we had was apple and we cut it and put it into sambhar. The friend who had come over thought it was pumpkin or something :)) .

Beer dosai - The more you are drunk , the more you will do crazy stuffs to get yourself more drunk .This is the second law of Drinking beer. The first one I forgot .The third law being you forget what you said when you are drunk . Seri..seri...We added beer to the Dosa platter and made yummy dosas. When you can have liquor chocs , then why not liquor Dosas ?

Neways , happy new year ppl.Let me Know how you spend your new year eve :) .....

Christmas weekend with school friends

I had been looking forward to the christmas weekend because I was to go to ski resort in Lake Tahoe with 2 of my school friends (one of whom I had last met some 3 or 4 years ago ) . I had fever from thursday on but I didnt want to miss the fun . So we decided to go ahead with the plan .

My friends got me tablets from local pharmacy and me , being such an innocent guy , trusted those #$%@$ and had the tablet.Only then they told me that its some menstrual tablet .AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...Its been long time since we had played a practical joke on someone and it so happened that this time it was on me. But I must admit that, though they took unfair advantage of my situation , it was a very good joke. We laughed a long time talking about it .(During school days , once I had added laxative tablets to a drink and made my friend drink it :-D ). Other than this , the weekend was memorale for all right things .It lead to some of my "firsts" in life .For eg:

The first time I experienced Zero degree centigrade - Our car displayed the outside temperature and when it showed 0 degrees , I lowered the window glass and felt the cold air . I wont forget that moment for a long time :)

First experience with snow - Since I come from Chennai where there is hardly enough water for daily needs ( except this year ) and where the sun GOD likes to shower his blessing as much as possible , my experience with snow is something unforgettable . As soon as I saw snow , I picked it up and kept in my hands until my hands felt numb .

Ice skating and skiing - This is amazing fun . Everyone should try it.

I must admit this trip confused me a bit .I always had this is doubt if I am a leftie or a rightie or ambidextrous. My skiing instructor said that my left foot is my better side .But when I tried playing pool (yeah ...this is my second try at pool . The first one lasted for 5 or 7 seconds ) , I found that I am ambidextrous.I played equally well/bad with both my hands . Anyways, the bottom line is - I had fun .And also to be noted is that I didnt fall even once when ice skating and fell only twice when skiing .And coming to pool , I played okie considering the fact I am new to it.

During the trip , me and my school friends spend some time talking about our school days and friends. Something that came to our mind at that time was that we were once told my our computer science teacher that we will never ever make progress in computer field.Ironically , all the 3 of us are in IT field and we have done well in our careers .I hope our computer teacher comes to know this .And also , I want to tell him that we are NOT sorry for doing all the nonsense we did in class , making fun of him and making him cry (yeah ..he really cried to us ..trust me he tears in his eyes ...can u see our evil laughs ??? ) .

This could easily be the best ever christmas hols I ever had.Next weeken I will be In washington DC to meet another school buddy . The plan , as of now, is to make him talk about his sad story while I laugh at him :))

Thinking out loud

Most of people in India know more than one language .I know english, hindi, tamil and of course , my mother tongue.I am pretty comfortable in all the four languages .The language in which I speak depends on the person to whom I am talking and also depends on place, purpose etc .

Taking a step further, I was under the impression that the language in which I think depends on the language in which I was talking earlier .But is this true ? I have observed that the language in which I think need NOT always depends on the language in which I was talking earlier.

I feel that the language in which we think may depend on the topic about which we think. Not only that the language in which we think affects the way we think about the topic .So its more like a cyclic loop - the topic influences the language in which you think ...and this in turns influences the way you think about the topic .And also there are times that when you think on a certain topic then you always think in the same language ..also there topics where you think in any language.

Okie ..guys ..summing it up - How much that a language in which you think affects your thinking ?

Damn.........

Well...we were cooking . We werent sure if we got to be happy that no fire engine came or be worried that it didnt come ....never know .

Okka question

I have one question -
Why do people , here in the USA , think that people coming from India are eager to go to temples?

I have been here for little more than a month and I have been to 3 temples already .And the last time I went to temple was when I was in USA last year .I dont remember when was the last time I went to temple in India.

BTW ...I can come to temple ..but dont hand me the lyrics of "kantha sasthi kavacham" and ask me to recite/sing it .It looked more like Control systems question paper to me and I dont know how the hell I cleared that exam .May be Control system exam was the last reason why I went to temple ............

Corrected Machi !!!!!!!!!

My previous post about realization, frustration and goals has got my friends concerned .I had chatted with some friends, talked on phone with others .Most of my friends said something like this - "dai enna da achu unnakku ? you were fine till last weekend .You were happy sight-adichifying , flirting with girls , doing dumb things that got you embarrassed .And now you speak I-got-a-dream kinda speech. Are you okie ?" .Some even went to extend of asking me to stay away from them if I continued talking about goals and other CRAPS :-( .So I was a bit down and then......I watched this movie .

This Tamil movie should have been an oscar entry if not for the politics that prevail in Indian film industry . The movie is titled "Manmadhan" and it is about a casanova kinda guy who goes around "picking up" girls .And everytime he "corrects" a girl , there is a stamp on the screen displaying the playboy bunny , nike tick symbol and the words "corrected machi" .enna marketing athu..chance eh illai .

Apporam , the leading actress is Jothika .This movie is a real good example of what wonders make-up can do .Can you believe that Jo looks beautiful in this movie!!! .The good thing is that the hero "rejects" her when she proposes to him.And of course , since the movie has the next tamil super star (ahemm..I know opinions differ ..wait till Vallavan is released ) , it has some punch dialogues .One that caught my attention was "Vazhkai le yaru first-u varangannu mukkiyam illai , last le yaru first vanranganuradhu thaan mukkiyam...varen" .I think he was trying to say that "it doesnt matter who starts first , but what matters is who finishes first.I will come" .Enna philosophy ..I am impressed.Out goes my goals .......

This is a real good movie.I am so much inspired from this movie that I am planning to go to jogging tomorrow .Na..dont worry - no more goals , ralizations crap .Matter enna na , the other day while I was jogging I saw a babe .I am gonna "correct" her .Who knows you may see a playboy bunny with a nike symbol and the words "corrected machi" tomorrow on my blog :-) .

Manmadhan is here ....

ESCAPE !!!!

Realization

This happened sometime last week.....

I woke early that day .It had been raining all night and after having one look outside I decided to go out for jogging .Not that I am a regular jogger but it was such a beautiful day and I just found myself a reason to go out . It was pretty cold outside..I couldnt say I was feeling all that comfortable braving the cold wind. But I don't get chances to experience this is in Chennai :-) .

Initially I was enjoying the beautiful day ; but later on as I got warmed up after jogging for few minutes , I was lost in thoughts.I wasnt thinking about anything in particular .After some more time , I got tired(It has been long time since I have run ) .Under normal circumstances , when I am going to drop doing something , I try to stretch myself by setting a new target. As in the case of jogging , when I am too tired , I tell myself that I had run for few more minutes or try to run till that tree at the end of the road or things like that to stretch my goal. This day was different .I continued running even though I was physically too tired . I don't think I have run this distance ever and I am pretty sure I must have broken previous record of mine. But I wasnt happy.I kept running .It was then I realized something .I stopped and I was very irritated.

I realized that , off late , I have been distracted from my goals. Not that I am complaining about the new things I have been trying recently . I love to explore new things and I welcome changes. But what irritated me was that I have deviated from my goals. The intermediate things now seem more important than my final destination. It was more like what I was doing at that particular moment ...I had been literally running to nowhere !!! This is freakin frustrating ....

And also , I realized that some people have picturised me in a particular way and I am trying to live as they have picturised me.Why ? No idea....

I walked back to my apartment disgusted. It had started to drizzle by then. The cool drizzle helped me to cool down a bit. Though I was irritated , the realization made me happy for I was feeling more like myself .

Normally I prefer to post "not-so-serious" articles.I have made an exception here because I know that I have wasted a lot of time on doing nothing .The intention of this post is that if anyone of you reading this has been deviated from your goals, then dude it is high time you go back and think for few minutes. I hope atleast you guys save some time .

Thanks givin weekend

Thanks giving weekend is a big occassion here .People get around 4 - 5 days off and they celebrate by going out , by organizing dinners , get togethers etc..Well...I was under the assumption that it is in this time that people thank their parents , God etc.But only few days back I got to know the real reason. Thanks giving weekend is nothing but the time when the Americans thank the (red) Indians for teaching them to survive here and also for giving the land. What a novel way to thank !!! ..isnt it simple?- " Dudes , you teach us how to live here and give us your land . We will reciprocate by thanking you once in year by organizing a thanks giving day.On that day you will be remembered and you will be given a turkey to eat !!! " ....Well..there is a proverb - when in Peterland , do as the Peters do. So whatever the historical or geographical reasons , I didnt complain . I too spend the thanks giving day as the Americans do ..I went for a trip .

I went to LA with my school friend and his colleagues. We drove through the beautiful mountains.Though the route wasn't listed as a scenic route , trust me , its a very beautiful road. The road system here shows how much India lags behind , especially when it comes to infrastructure.

We visited the Universal Studios.Man ...that was fun .It was very crowded and for every ride/show we had to wait for long. For some shows , the waiting time was around 1 hour and the wait in the queue itself was like a ride (now..that was a sarcastic statement if u didnt get the tone :-) ) .The ride we all enjoyed was "the revenge of the mummy" ..guys dont miss this one if you visit Universal studios. Its real good and fun .We waited for more than an hour for the short ride of 40 seconds. My friends told me that usually it is longer but due to the large crowd the ride was shortened .When I look back now , it was morelike waiting for long hours in queue in tirupathi to see God.And when you see Balaji (athaan ba ..lord venkatajalapathi ) , some dumb guy says "jhargandi ...jahargandi .." ( I think it means "keep moving" in telugu ) .The wait was long but the few seconds in the ride was ultimate and memorable ...btw ..nothing religious in the comparison I have used .

Apporam .. I met my cousin , his wife and their cute kids .He took me to Malibu temple .It is pretty famous out here .Damnnnnnn....I dont know why it happens to me alone .No babes in this temple too...cha..Oh lord ,what wrong did I do to be cursed like this ? Apart from this , I enjoyed my stay in LA .And it was made more memorable as I got to meet my friend .I had been looking forward to meet her ever since I came to USA .I am pretty sure she too will remember it ...but for the wrong reasons .She thinks that I got her bad luck as she banged her car into some other car while she was driving to meet me .And worse still, the voice recognition software in her car failed miserably when she was trying to show off :-) .She ordered "Fan speed two " and the voice recognition software replied ""39 miles to destination" . And I was blamed for everything that went wrong with her on that day ...... .Hey you people ..do support me :-)

Okie ..I had lotsa fun and will keep you updated .As of now , let me go back and work :-(((

PS : I havnt been able to comment on all your blogs .But trust me I do read them .I leave comments in as many blogs as possible :-)

How ya doin ?

It was my first trip to USA and my first day to office here.My heart started beating faster when I saw a beautiful girl walking towards me.And before I realised , when she was few metres away from me , she had a beautiful smile on her face and said "how ya doin ? " .My heart skipped a beat and by the time I could put up a "romantic look" and a smile on my face she walked past me.Again at the office , I was asked "how do you do ? , hows u ? " and similiar questions by women of all ages.I went to the restroom and checked myself in the mirror.I was neatly dressed but I couldn't call myself dashing .Whatever ..who cares ...all the women seem to find reasons to talk to me.I was flying until a guy entered the restroom and asked "how do you do" ? I was like ..oho..yeah gr8 .Now , I might be looking good ( ..high hopes ah ? ) , but still I didnt want guys' attention. If this wasnt enough , every guy on the floor I met asked me the same question and every person had the weird smile on his face .I knew that Americans were "broadminded" , but I didnt want to be on the receiving side.Come on , I thought that it was more like equivalent of eve-teasing.I dodged every look from any person untill my colleage told me that it was just a greeting and people greet strangers here :-) .

Imagine I tried greeting people at the Elliots beach , Chennai .Hey ..how you doing ? and the girl will say "ponnu konjam azhaga irukka kudathey , udana vanthu oothivingala" .Or if I tried it on a kid , the kid could say "ayyo...kozhanda pidikurey puchandi vanduta..run" and the kids mom could say "I told you never to talk to strangers" and then she might slap the kid.The slap is meant to hurt you more than the kid.Or if you greeted your friend asking hows he doing he could say "dai loose ah da ni ? we met 3 hours back " .So by the law of whatever , if you have walked 150 metres , you could have greeted 60 people , got slapped by 13 girls , scared away 20 kids and the rest could consider you mentally challenged .And also you could have got the beach police sweating ..err.. I meant they might get suspicious and might be following you with their huge thoppai (bellly ) .

It could be great if people back home could greet strangers and respond back. The above 3 scenarios described could be like this ...to kid - hey how u doin ? and the kid says good.now you ask - so whats ur sister's name (..now do you get what I mean ? ).Or your friend - howdy ? he say "gr8 da" .And you can go- " kewl da ..so lets go to pub and celebrate .You can buy me the drinks" .Or if you see a beautiful girl walking alone and you ask her - "hows your day been ? " and she says - not bad. Then at this moment , arrange someone to play "Lets make it a night to remember " song and stretch out your hand reaching for her hand like Shahrukh in DDLJ and tell her - I could make it better if you let me walk with you ".(warning - this idea is highly injurious to health. It is performed by experts under the supervision of other experts .So dont try it at home) .

But greeting may not be all that fun.Imagine you are very dejected because the beautiful girl next door called you uncle ( crashed your world ) or if your manager denied you a leave ( it doesnt matter if it is a sunday ..does it ? ) or if one week from now is the first anniversay marking the day you proposed to your girlfriend and you are desperately trying to ditch her because she is expecting an expensive gift for the occassion ...or any other reason. And then you meet this cheerful guy who comes smiling and asks you how you doing. you will be like - vanthutaya ..vanthata.It could be more like adding fuel to fire and you could wish that you could throw stones at him and hit on his head till he falls down. You could then complete the revenge by asking him - "now how do u feel dude ? I dont deny the fact that we could go just for the amazing food Uma cooks , but I also cherish the time we had there .It wasnt like we were meeting for the first time .

Temple - Narayan took me to Livermore temple today .Well ....last time I went to temple was a year back ..and that too when I was in USA and my cousin forcibly took me there .Now tell me why guys of my age could go to temple ? of course we go to sight adichify .I did see some girls ......but none in half saree .athu enna theriyallai ..nammakku ponnunga thavani pottukitu , thalai le malli poo vachi irunda , rombha pidikkum .athu thani kick thaan machi ..appadi-ey manasu alai payum.enna nachu feeling athu . I missed that in this temple . Now..this reminds me ...a friend of mine ,here in LA , had promised me to take me to temple when I meet her. I hope atleast she takes me to a good temple :-) .

@Narayan - Its gr8 to know that myself and Shiv had made you feel younger .When you come to India , I will definitely take you to places (not to bars/pubs ..but to temples ;-) ) where you will feel much more younger :-) ..and your memories from college days could repeat again in reality :-) .

@Shiv- machi , I will definitely come over to your place . Lets explore the places around your town :-)

More experiments...

I think am experimenting too many things nowadays .Previously I had stated that I want to experiment trying to be a loner . That one was by choice .But the experiment I am talking now is a matter of survival . Its freaking hard and I have never had tears in my eyes before .

It all started last week when I was still staying in the hotel and I was hit by the jetlag .It was pretty late in the night and I was wide awake.I was damn hungry and I didnt know what to do because I knew pretty well that all the eat outs could be closed by then . Luckily I had a "MTR ready to eat" tamarind rice pack .To eat this , I was supposed to keep the pack in water and heat it .There were no utensils in the hotel room and .You should be knowing that I am a lazy butt, and at home ,I have not even moved a pencil from one place to another .The only physical exercise I do is to type on the keyboard .So due to laziness , I decided against picking up phone and calling the front desk or to go out and explore . Though I dont do much physical exercise , I do exercise my grey cells ...brains , pretty often :-) ..I can get pretty innovative at times (can you hear the music ? ..because I am blowing my own trumpet ;-) ) . So what did I do ? I filled the bath tub with hot water and put the pack in the hot water for few minutes .Apporam enna ....it was ready to eat and I ate it .Trusted me ..it wasnt the best food ..but it felt heavenly .

That was my second experience with cooking .Last time I had tried cooking was when I was in home ...some 2 years back or so.That time , I had turned the kitchen into a war zone .After that day I was banned from entering the kitchen. So I had never learned to cook .But here , you need to cook becos you cant eat everyday at KFC or chinese restaurants .So me and my roomie planned to try cooking again . Since my roomie knew more (???) about cooking than I did , he decided to make sambhar and rice .I was asked to cut vegetables and onions . (BTW ..is onion a vegetable ? The music that you heard due to blowing my own trumpet stops here :-) ) . While I was cutting onions, my eyes were red and tears were flowing . I had to wash my face many a times before I could cut the onions .Man..I had never forget this experience.

And...while experimenting , we managed to repair the microwave oven. And all said and done , we did cook something :-))) ..yahoooooooooooooooo ..

After all this , when I told my dad about this , he said that I am getting ready for marriage ....Man ..my dad neednt encourage me , but it could be better off if he didnt threaten me with such statements :-(( .

Con-FUSED

Last time I had been to the USA , I was confused and found it difficult to adjust ..And this time too I am confused ...Yeah dudes .. everyone in USA does things wrongly ..and everything works in the wrong way .Some of the wrong things done here are :

People here drive on the wrong side of the road .

You have to switch off the light to switch it on and vice versa .

The ground floor is called the first floor and the first floor is called the second floor and so on.

The date is wriiten in the mm/dd/yyyy format which is so darn wrong and so darn confusing.

The worstestest thing is waiting for signal to cross the road . Enna freedom ethu ? freakin... I dont have the freedom to cross the road as and when I like (The birth right , of we the Indians , is snatched away the moment we land here :-(( ) .Plus ..they have camera installed to catch violators (..vitta sun TV le telecast pannuvanga polla irrukku )

The other thing is people eat here with fork and knife .Back home in India , I had rather kill myself than be caught eating with fork (you know ..if you are caught in this act ..you will be branded as Peter for the rest of your life ..which by itself is an insult of highest degree ) .But here it is a norm...of course , everyone is a Peter or Mary here .

Last year , in Raleigh , I had been to a popular local Indian restaurant ( local restaurant here doesnt mean our Nair tea kadai or Andhra mess ..Local restaurant here, by itself , is better than the star hotels back home ..but who the hell wants to eat in the star hotels ??? ) .I was eating roti, naan etc . and was enjoying myself .An American couple were seated in the next table. They too had roti , paratha etc and were eating with knife and fork . They saw me eating with hand and gave me a weird look. I am not sure if they had not seen any person eating with hand or if they were looking at me for help to tell them how to eat the roti .I smiled at them and told them that Indian food tastes better when eaten with hand and also its more fun that way.The couple smiled at me and they started eating with their hands :-) .

I hope to teach such good things to the Peters and Marys out here .Next I may be teaching them the "is the" language of the Dalda Dappas :-) .I wish I knew how to wear the lungi (Dalda Dappa Dress code ) so that I could teach these guys that too :-) ..I know its a freakin shame not to know how to wear a lungi especially since I am a memeber of the Dalda Dappas :-(( .

Anyways ..lets Indianize this place ...and God bless America !!!

PS : if you are in a mood for fighting , then have a look at Archana's post ..please fight there :-)
